Railway station Chlumec nad Cidlinou
Chlumec nad Cidlinou railway station is located on the northern edge of the town of Chlumec nad Cidlinou, close to the bus station and Chlumecký Pond. The station was built in 1870 as part of the branch line of the Austrian North-Western Railway (ÖNWB) connecting Vienna and Berlin, and its connection north-eastwards to the border with Prussia. In 1964, the station was subtly rebuilt and plastered, the original stucco elements were removed and an administration building was built next to the dispatch building. The operation of electric traction was started on January 6, 1966. The Chlumec nad Cidlinou railway station can be divided into two buildings - the dispatch building and the transport pavilion.
Railway station
In the selected variant, we work with a higher block, which is removed at the corner and creates a covered space accentuating the entrance to the building. The size of the opening in the volume follows the future roofing of the platforms. In the narrower part of the mass, there is a commercial space, including facilities. The commercial area and the check-in hall are accessible both from the street and from the platform.
The layout of the dispatch building includes the carrier's cash desks including facilities, a public toilet for passengers (calculated for the peak number of passengers according to the project plan) and the technical facilities of the building. Inside the building, a place is designed for the placement of vending machines, ATMs and lockers for luggage.
The facade is considered to be ventilated with visible lacquered metal cassettes. The color of the object is designed as white in contrast with the dark gray areas. The light color of the object stands out in the surrounding buildings and emphasizes the importance of the building.
Office pavilion
The proposed modification of the traffic pavilion solves the new layout and insulation of the building envelope. The main goal is to place two new flats of the 4+kk category to replace the flats in the existing dispatch building and to organize the remaining areas for transporters' lodgings and commercially leased areas (doctor's offices). The existing gable roof will be replaced with a flat one.
The facade of the house is leveled and unified as part of the insulation, especially on the northern corner. The plastic shaping of the entrance facade, which is additionally accentuated with a darker plaster than the rest of the house, remains distinct. The saddle-shaped roof is replaced by an attic at a uniform height.
